Doing handsown

You may be doing lot of things especially in software engineering on a daily basis. Working on existing codebase. But, a better way to learn and understand things is build things from scratch and experiment in your local IDE other than what you work. It just gives lots of confidence and makes life a lot easier.

Having a good side project

In the busyness of work, we often ignore having something side which you are just doing for fun. In the sense, some technical projects which is not related to work. These experiments with new technologies would be giving an extra advantage in your daily chores. Its like sharping the tool before you actually go for any work.

Right amount of sleep

I have been experimenting with 6 hours and 7 hours of sleep. Earlier, my sweet spot used to be 6 hours. But now a days, with 6 hours sleep, you will be drousing in the afternoon. With 7 hours of good sleep, its way more easier.

Making sure you exercise

I had done this a lot. Always skip my exercise and my other morning routines when work gets busy. But, what I forget doing that is, all the exercise and routines is what helps me to sustain my work and go long term. We often forget this and optimise for short term which should not be the case ideally. Its a bit difficult to practice, but im trying my best.

Relaxing weekend

You would have probably heard or got this advice of doing lot of side projects even on your weekends related to your work. It does help, but is it really needed? Earlier I was also of the opinion that it is absolute necessary. But, now a days I have a very different opinion on this. You have lots of fun on your weekend, which will make you more energetic on Monday which will immensely help your career and life whole together.

Focusing on values

During the chaos of every day life, we may end up not focusing on the character you have build in your years. Character and behaviour is something we all of us are in control. Why not polish it everyday. Having a set of core values helps here.

Going back to cooking

Its been a while since I cooked, it usually be order from outside. I thought its time to change it back. It just feels good. And feels like relaxing after a tiring day. Planning to continue with this for dinner meals.

Relaxing on a week day

Yesterday, I experimented with taking a small break in the evening. Usually, my day ends around 8.00 in the evening. For a change, i ended at 4.00 pm. It feels good. It just helps to recover and have full energy for the next day.

Personal time

Personal time is so underrated and quality personal brings lots of value to your life. Most of us would feel guilty in taking the personal time out of work may be just to refresh, but it is very important. Even under your high stressful day or your busy schedule, we need to figure out time for ourselves and rejuvenice our inner soul. Else, things would become difficult to sustain.

Morning walk

Usually I go to gym in the morning, for a change visited the near by lake and had a good time there. The morning breeze and greenery around was just very soothing and calming. A fantastic start to great week ahead.

An amazing day

Yesterday, i had started my day by having a good run at park, then had make a good break fast, played video games, watched movies, read books, etc. After 7.00 pm, I had ensured im not getting any screen time. I stick with reading hard copy book. I really got a wonderful sleep and in the morning, I have more energy. Infact, these were the things which I used to do earlier, then somehow got lost in the business of work. Yesterday, was reading this book High on life, it reminded me again of the importance of the hormones dopamine, oxytocin, serotonin, etc. Our brain can be programmed using these hormones and if we understand how these can be produced on demand.

Being disciplined

There are some weekends where I just do what I want to do, this weekend rather than doing things on the spot, may be just do the right things. In the sense, have your morning exercises, have a good break fast, do your laundry, finish of your chores, chill out some time with your folks, read some thing, have a pleasant rest. It is just awesome.

A slow morning

A slow morning doesnt mean waking up late. It means, waking up early and not rushing on the morning things. In the sense, take your time to do your exercises, have peacefully your coffee, do you readings, etc. In the sense, try to not rush through these things. What I have observed is, on days when I calm and composed in the morning, the entire day unfolds like that. And similarly, when I rush through my morning because of some urgent priority at work, my entire day becomes like that. Well, give it a shot.

Relax, everything would be alright

Some days you feel exhausted and may feel too tired and would feel like just sit idle and give up. But, just hang in there. It will be alright tomorrow.

Playing Games

I hypothesised yesterday that trying something new will bring in a new energy. What I did was to buy a PS5 and just play FC 25 and GTA 5. Well, its been some time since I played video games. It felt refreshed and is more excited to go for work and getting things going on Monday morning.

Try something different

Sometimes it gets boring after some set of routines and work you do on a daily basis. For a change try doing something different. It just brings a lot of new energy.

Busy days

Yesterday was one such days where literally you were occupied with lots of things. One thing i noticed is, it is easier to focus on one thing at a time. When you have multiple things going on parallely, it really becomes difficult to manage.

Its okay to not do everything

One of the important thing that we really need to understand is the fact its okay to not do everything. The priority needs to be given to your sleep, health, diet and then work. Even at work, if you there 5 things, if you can finish 1 or 2, thats splendid. Sometime, we over pressurises ourselves over these things. The intersting part is coming to an agreement with ourselves that its okay.

Being curious

Its easy to look at problems with a curious mind. A problem is all about how we view and perceive it. If we are looking with a bit of curiousity, and is ready to accept whatever befalls on your path. Then, isnt it very easy to go forward.
